On February 27, 2024, the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, received on Tuesday afternoon His Most Eminent Highness Fra’ John Dunlap, Prince and Grand Master of the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta, who presented him with the decoration of the Order of Chivalry pro Merito Melitensi.

Accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Janaina Tewaney Mencomo, the President took the opportunity to thank the Sovereign Order of Malta for the great humanitarian work they carry out all over the world and for their permanent support to Panama.

After the meeting in the office of President Cortizo Cohen, both delegations went to the Yellow Room, where the Panamanian President received the decoration of the Order of Chivalry Pro Merito Melitensi of the Sovereign Order of Malta, for his commitment to defend the dignity of the human being and provide assistance to those most in need.

Cortizo Cohen also recognized the humanitarian work of His Most Eminent Highness Prince and Grand Master Fra’ John T. Dunlap and awarded him the Order of Major General Omar Torrijos Herrera, in the degree of Grand Cross Extraordinary.

The audience and decoration were attended by: H.E. Fra’ Emmanuel Rosseau, Grand Commander H.E. Count Ricardo Paternó di Montecupo, Grand Chancellor of the Order of Malta H.E. Fra’ Alessandro de Franciscis, Grand Hospitaller H.E. Don Fabrizio dei Principi Colonna, H.E. Count Lupo del Bono Ambassador of the Order of Malta in Panama, and the Ambassador of Panama to the Holy See H.E. Miroslava Rosas.
