The Ambassador

Count Lupo del Bono is an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and Family man. Born in Milan in 1956, he graduated with a “Bachelor of Science in Business Administration” from Babson College (Boston, USA) in 1979. Lupo del Bono worked in various management positions in the insurance and financial sector.
He and his Panamanian wife Marie are passionate about education, environmental issues, service to the community, and aid to the most needy. Both Lupo and Marie sit on various boards globally. They have two married sons and one granddaughter.

Lupo’s focus on Philanthropy led him to become a founding member of both the Gabriel Sherover Foundation in Jerusalem and the Foundation for Human Prosperity in Amsterdam. He is the founding member of the Global Advisory Board of Babson College in Boston, one of the goals being aim of providing scholarships to deserving foreign students

After moving to Panama in 2012, Lupo del Bono joined the Panamanian Association of the Order of Malta, as Knight of Grace and Devotion, and then in 2017 he is appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Panama. On 24 October 2017 he presents his credential letters to the President of the Republic Juan Carlos Varela.
In 2019 the Embassy implements the approval and ratification of the Master Bilateral Agreement between the Order of Malta and the Republic of Panama.
Soon after, the Embassy ratifies a Master Bilateral Agreement with Food for the Poor, a leading US relief and development organization, which leads to the importation and distribution, together with the Panamanian Association of the Order, to the sick and the poor in Panama of humanitarian goods, in excess of USD 3 million per year.

In 2017 Lupo is appointed by the Archdioceses of Panama as a Member of the Organizing Committee of the 2019 “Jornada Mondial de la Juventud”, the largest Catholic Church event, which takes place every 4 years. In 2019 the 1-week event was based in Panama and hosted 200,000 young pilgrims from all over the Globe.
400 European Medical Volunteers of the Order came to Panama as first responders and provided valuable support for the local medical team.
